Purpose

Who can be rewarded?

The EBIA Award will be awarded to a person, company, organization or authority having made a significant contribution to the sector. This contribution can vary from an innovation to best practice, a research undertaken in the domain of the bedding industry or even a lifetime achievement.

Objectives

The EBIA Award is intended to promote both creativity and innovation, and to create an added value within our business. Meanwhile it is also a good opportunity to increase the visibility and image of EBIA and consequently of your bedding industry.

Procedure

The procedure for the EBIA Award will take place in several phases:

1. Selection of candidates

In this first phase, we kindly ask the co-operation of each national bedding federation in selecting 1 to 3 candidates per country who would merit the EBIA Award. Each entry must be briefly motivated. The candidatures have to be returned to EBIA by January to assure a good follow-up and respect of deadlines.

2. Creation of short list by EBIA’s Board of Directors

Based on the candidatures and input received from the national bedding federations, EBIA’s Board of Directors will further look into the entries during its February meeting. They will then establish a shortlist of 3 nominees (possibly including 1 nominee chosen by the Board), who will be notified of their selection and the next steps.

3. Press campaign

At the occasion of the official announcement of the nominees, a press release will be distributed in all EBIA member countries, explaining:

  • What EBIA stands for
  • The importance and relevance of the annual EBIA Award
  • The announcement of the nominees with a short description of their merit for the bedding industry and its consumers

4. Selection of jury and deliberation: April – June

The international jury selected for the EBIA Award will be composed of:

  • Members of the national federations
  • Journalists from each country, appointed by the national federations

The vote of the members of the national federations will count for 75%, and those of the journalists for 25%.

5. Announcement of the winner of the EBIA Award

The winner will be announced at the General Assembly and will become an honorary member of EBIA.
